All-on-4 Dental Implants
All-On-4 implants are an innovation in dental implants that enable more people than ever to receive full-arch or full mouth dental implants to restore or replace missing teeth. When a full arch of teeth is missing in the upper or lower jaw, the All-On-4 procedure allows us to secure a full set of replacement teeth on just four strategically placed dental implants.
All-On-4 Implants are an ideal solution for patients who have experienced bone loss due to long-term denture wear, illness, or tooth loss.
What is the All-On-4 Procedure?
The All-On-4 procedure attaches a permanent, fixed dental prosthetic that resembles a denture to four strategically placed implants. The arch of replacement teeth is lighter and less bulky than a denture and does not cover the roof of the mouth in the case of an upper arch. In many cases, we can attach a new set of temporary teeth the same day. The placement of the implants is crucial. We angle the back implants to make the best use of the jawbone, often avoiding the need for bone grafting.
For some patients, a few more implants may be needed. When a few more or fewer implants are used, we may refer to it as an All-On-X procedure.
The All-On-X Process
- Assessment & Treatment Plan: We take digital scans, examine your mouth, and determine the optimal implant sites.
- Implant Placement: We place two implants in the front of the jaw and two in the back. The two in the back are angled to avoid nerves and sinuses while taking advantage of the densest areas of bone.
- Temporary Teeth: In most cases, we can attach a set of temporary teeth, so you leave our office with a fully functional smile.
- Healing: Time is needed for the dental implants to fuse with the surrounding bone, providing stability for your permanent restorations. This usually takes anywhere from 3 to 6 months.
- Final Restoration: When your implants have fused with your jawbone, we remove the temporary replacement teeth and permanently attach your final restoration.
